CONGREGATIONAL COACHING

Congregational Transformation is not an overnight fix. Donald Heifitz, in Leadership on the Line, would describe it as an Adaptive rather than a Technical change.

Technical Changes are quick fixes with predetermined solutions. (Your light burns out - change the bulb).

Adaptive Changes don't have easy answers or predetermined solutions. They also require a cultural change. That is, a new set of thoughts and behaviors by the parties involved. (Light bill too high - learn new habit of conserving electricity).

Congregational Transformation means learning a whole new approach to being Church. Transformation is a process that takes time, energy and resources. A congregational coach is essential to keep the churches on task and accountable. A coach can help the pastor and congregation navigate around resistance and discover what God is calling the church to be and do.

The COM Strategy Team is prepared to engage your church in the coaching process. Call Chris Garrison or Tim Coombs and a trained team from the COM Strategy Group will meet with your Session and talk about the coaching process.

Current congregations involved in this ministry are: Christ's Church of the Hills and Greenwich United.
