Dan has been a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Troy since 1972 when he transferred his church membership from the Meriden Congregational Church in Meriden, NH, where he was born and raised. He was ordained a Ruling Elder at the church in Troy in 1974 and a Deacon in 2005, and has served a number of terms on the Session and Board of Deacons there since his ordinations. Dan served as Vice Moderator and then Moderator of Albany Presbytery in 2001 and 2002. He served as a member of the Presbytery Committee on Ministry from 2004 through 2009 and chair of that committee from 2005 through 2007. Dan has served as Stated Clerk of the Presbytery since November 2009. Dan served as a ruling elder commissioner from the Presbytery to the Synod of the Northeast assembly in Oswego, NY, in June 1991 and as a ruling elder commissioner to the 218th General Assembly of the PC(USA) in San Jose, CA, in June 2008. He attended and served as a parliamentarian for one of the committees at the 219th, 220th, and 221st General Assemblies in 2010 (Minneapolis), 2012 (Pittsburgh), and 2014 (Detroit) respectively. He is a current member of the Association of Stated Clerks of the PC(USA). Dan and his wife, Laura, live in Latham. They have two sons and three grandchildren. He has a BS degree in Physics/Engineering from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA, and an ME degree in civil/structural engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Dan completed his career as a licensed professional engineer in 2004 when he retired from Ryan-Biggs Associates, PC, as a Principal Structural Engineer specializing in the design of bridge structures.
