DESCRIPTION:Spring Nature Walk\, Rain Date: Monday\, April 27 \nEarth Care Congregations of the Capital Region invite you to join us for a 60-90 minute gentle (slow) Nature Walk! \nWe will start at 10:00 am at Heldeberg Workshop\, located at 353 Picard Road in Altamont. \nOur walk will point out different species of flowers and answer any questions. We will also try to identify animal tracks and bird calls. \nSince it can be damp and rainy in April\, we recommend hiking boots\, or shoes that can withstand a bit of mud if the weather is inclement. We will plan to walk if it’s drizzling and misty\, but will cancel if it is a total rain out. \nIf interested\, please RSVP to office@newscotlandpc.org so we can let you know if the walk ends up being changed because of weather. \nUnfortunately\, this walk is not handicap accessible. You may want to carry a walking stick\, but it isn’t necessary to do so. And of course\, be sure to dress for the day’s weather forecast\, including tucking pants into socks and using tick repellant. DESCRIPTION:Each year clergy are required to take the New York State Sexual Harassment Prevention Training. Practical Resource Center (PRC)\, of which Albany Presbytery is a member\, offers this online training several times and you may take this training any time during the year. \nOnce one has finished the training\, they issue a certificate saying it has been completed successfully. That certificate should be sent to Rev. David Bennett\, Stated Clerk of the presbytery\, so that presbytery has a record of completion. \nThis training is mandatory and not taking it can result in difficulty for the church in getting insurance and action by the presbytery concerning one’s call. \nThursday\, April 9\, 2026\n2:00 pm – 3:30 pm ET \nREGISTER HERE \nPlease click on the event link above or contact Charlaine at charlaine@prcli.org to register. SUMMARY:NYS Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
DESCRIPTION:Each year clergy are required to take the New York State Sexual Harassment Prevention Training. Practical Resource Center (PRC)\, of which Albany Presbytery is a member\, offers this online training several times and you may take this training any time during the year. \nOnce one has finished the training\, they issue a certificate saying it has been completed successfully. That certificate should be sent to Rev. David Bennett\, Stated Clerk of the presbytery\, so that presbytery has a record of completion. \nThis training is mandatory and not taking it can result in difficulty for the church in getting insurance and action by the presbytery concerning one’s call. \nWednesday\, February 11\, 2026\n7:00 pm – 8:30 pm ET \nREGISTER HERE \nPlease click on the event link above or contact Charlaine at charlaine@prcli.org to register. This is an online and interactive 90-minute session which meets New York State Standards for Sexual Harassment Prevention Training.

SUMMARY:Put People Over Plastic! Albany Lobby Day
DESCRIPTION:For the past two years\, the Peacemaking Task Force has supported legislation proposed by Beyond Plastics to reduce plastic waste through the Plastic Packaging Reduction and Infrastructure Act. \nThis legislation would dramatically reduce waste and ease the burden on taxpayers by requiring that manufacturers cover the cost of managing waste. \nIt aims to reduce plastic packaging by 30% in 12 years\, prohibit the use of the worst toxic chemicals in packaging\, and ensure that by 2052\, all packaging (plastic\, paper\, glass\, etc.) will achieve a 75% recycling rate. Although most of us diligently put plastic in our recycling bins\, most of the plastic produced is unable to be recycled and landfills are running out of space. \nLast year this legislation was approved by the NYS Senate\, but Speaker Carl Heastie never brought it to a vote in the NYS Assembly. \nBeyond Plastics is organizing a Lobby Day: \n\nNYS Capitol\nFebruary 9th\n10 AM to 4 PM\n\nIf you would like to be involved or to have more information please contact Susan Hawkes-Teeter at sueht@hotmail.com.
