Anti-racism and Peacemaking Task Forces are sponsoring a town hall meeting to discuss ā€œWe Cannot Remain Silent: A Statement on the National Moment from Albany Presbytery, PC(USA).ā€

This conversation will occur in advance of acting upon the statement at a Special Meeting of the Presbytery called for May 1.

The process of getting to this point was very connectional and Presbyterian. Drawing upon Confessions of our Church, particularly Barmen and C’67, clergy and elders have been discussing the current political climate and the need to formulate a response. On the day of the last presbytery meeting, TE Earl Johnson led an educational meeting on Barmen. In response to that, ARTF and Peacemaking Chairs announced that we would be drafting a statement. Over a few weeks, with TE J.C. Davis as principal author and TEs and REs amending the statement, we requested the Stated Clerk Call a Special Meeting to ask the presbytery to act upon it. Thank you in advance for your thoughtful participation.

Nancy Pienta, Chair, Peacemaking Task Force
Mary Anne Davis and Donna Elia, Co-chairs, Anti-Racism Task Force (ARTF)
