At the end of each year I, as Stated Clerk, am responsible for obtaining several annual statistical reports from each of the 62 churches in the Presbytery. These reports are typically prepared and submitted by the clerk of session, but sometimes the moderator of the session fills these roles. An information letter about this report process was sent electronically to each clerk of session on December 12, 2016. Relevant deadlines for submitting reports are highlighted in that letter.

A copy of the information letter along with copies of all related documents that are referenced in the letter can be found on the Albany Presbytery website under Resources/Clerks of the Session/Statistical Reports for 2016. Please check them out!

Clerks of Session: Please open the information letter as soon as you receive it to see what needs to be done and to develop a process for gathering the necessary information and meeting the required submission deadlines, especially the deadlines for submitting electronic reports to OGA (2/16/2017) and PMA (1/31/2017). Most of you have experience submitting these reports. Please notify the Presbytery Office immediately if you are no longer the clerk at your church so we can update our records and get the information to the one who will have the responsibility to complete the reports.

Teaching Elder Moderators: Please note that this statistical report process has begun and check with your clerk of session to see what assistance she or he may need to complete the reports on time. I am almost certain that this message will reach all teaching elder moderators in the Presbytery through this notice, but I am less certain that we have e-mail addresses for all current clerks of session, so your help in making sure the notice gets to all clerks of session is critical.

Church Treasurers: Please note that this statistical report process has begun and check with your clerk of session to see what information she or he may be asking you to provide.

While I am aware of presbyteries within the PC(USA) where the Stated Clerk regularly achieves participation in this annual reporting by each church in his or her presbytery, the best I have been able to achieve is about 80% participation. I hope this year I can achieve 100% participation! Jennifer Schoenfisch and I are available to answer questions and help prepare the electronic reports to OGA and the PMA, but we can only input information provided to us by church leaders.

Thank you for your assistance with this important work.

The purpose of the Albany Presbytery Blog is to share information, tell stories, and promote the mission and ministry of the presbytery, synod and beyond. While the breadth of this medium is intentionally broad, it is not a platform for opinion pieces related to business coming before the presbytery unless designed as part of an initiative to provide a diversity of viewpoints at the direction of the presbytery. Exceptions to this policy may be brought to the presbytery officers who will determine appropriateness of submissions.
