TAUM’s Annual Festival of Music and Chocolate is a great musical and confectionary delight for a great cause- TAUM’s Furniture Program which provides free furniture to those who have been homeless, are fleeing domestic violence, suffer a catastrophic event or simply lack resources to meet basic needs.
Imagine you are a grandparent about to have custody of your grandchild, but not being able to provide the bed and dresser she will need. What if your family of four was leaving a homeless shelter to get a rental apartment, but your part-time minimum wage jobs didn’t pay enough to furnish the apartment?
TAUM annually provides over $250,000’s worth of good used furniture free of charge to people in need throughout Rensselaer County and in cases of domestic violence, sometimes in other counties as well.
On Sunday, November 6 at 3 p.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church various choirs, soloists and instrumentalists (including First United, Troy and Hoosick Falls and Stephentown Federated Church) will offer their musical talent. From 4 to 5 p.m., bakers will offer their confectionary talent with a large array of delicious desserts! Tickets with advance registration are $12 for all the dessert you care to sample! A free will offering will be received during the concert.
Another opportunity to support TAUM programs and fair trade will be offered on November 20 from 11 am to 5 pm at Ten Thousand Villages, Stuyvesant Plaza. TAUM staff and board members will be there to serve refreshments and greet people, and TAUM programs will receive 15% of the sales to support our programs.
