Five Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery groups work together to host Churchwide Presbyterian Women’s Vice Moderator of Mission Relations
On Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm, Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery of Albany are holding its Fall Gathering at Schoharie United Presbyterian Church, 314 Main St, Schoharie, NY 12157. All women are welcome. The main speaker will be Judy Persons, Vice Moderator of Mission Relations on the Presbyterian Women’s Churchwide Coordinating Team. She will lead a participative activity, Our Gifts, What A Difference A Lens Makes.
The Presbyterian Women’s Coordinating Teams in five presbyteries have planned events to host Judy. She will travel west from Albany until Sat. Sept. 17. After speaking for us, Judy will present at a joint Utica & Cayuga-Syracuse Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery Retreat and then go on to Geneva and Western NY to speak at those Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery Fall Gatherings.
It has taken a year of planning to bring this traveling event together. Presbyterian Women in the Synod of the Northeast is covering airfare for Judy to and from New York.
Presbyterian Women (PW) is an independent organization within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) of more than 300,000 women. It offers women in the church meaningful ways to live out their faith in the midst of a caring community of women. Presbyterian Women was created in 1988 with the reunited Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and has a structure similar to that of PCUSA, in that there are groups called Circles at the Congregation level and Coordinating Teams at the Presbytery, Synod and Church-wide levels. You can learn more about Presbyterian Women and what is happening in the Albany Presbytery on the Presbyterian Women Group on the website.
Charlotte has been involved in Presbyterian Women for 35 years and was Moderator of Presbyterian Women in the Synod of the Northeast (PWSNE) from ’11-14. She is currently the Synod Representative from PWSNE to the Presbyterian Women’s Churchwide Coordinating Team. She is also member of Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church in Guilderland.
The purpose of the Albany Presbytery Blog is to share information, tell stories, and promote the mission and ministry of the presbytery, synod and beyond. While the breadth of this medium is intentionally broad, it is not a platform for opinion pieces related to business coming before the presbytery unless designed as part of an initiative to provide a diversity of viewpoints at the direction of the presbytery council. Exceptions to this policy may be brought to the presbytery officers who will determine appropriateness of submissions.
