On Thursday, January 30, the NY State Council of Churches adopted a statement addressing gun violence (see below). On Monday, Febru-ary 4, I plan to call my members of Congress and ask them to support measures that will re-duce gun violence in our country. I hope you will consider not only joining me in this wide-spread inter-faith effort but promoting it with your friends and colleagues. Congress needs to hear from faith voices on this issue. To have an impact, our reach must be far.

Please help spread the word in your church community. Click here for sample pulpit, bulle-tin, website, and social media announcements.

To directly encourage friends to join in, ask them to sign up to receive a reminder email on February 4 or join the Facebook event.

The call-in number, which will be activated on February 4, is 1-877-897-0174. Check for additional resources at: http://faithscalling.org. Please contact Brooke at bnewell@nyscoc.org with any questions or concerns.

Albany Presbytery strives to provide relevant information using a variety of communication channels including our website, email, paper mailings, social media, and in-person meetings. Please let us know of any erroneous information you may find. If you have information to share, we would be happy to connect with you. You can contact us via email here.

The purpose of the Albany Presbytery Blog is to share information, tell stories, and promote the mission and ministry of the presbytery, synod and beyond. While the breadth of this medium is intentionally broad, it is not a platform for opinion pieces related to business coming before the presbytery unless designed as part of an initiative to provide a diversity of viewpoints at the direction of the presbytery. Exceptions to this policy may be brought to the presbytery officers who will determine appropriateness of submissions.
