MUSIC COORDINATOR, Trinity Presbyterian Church, www.scotiatrinity.org
Small suburban church with a robust and cherished music program has an immediate need for a Music Coordinator. The ideal person for this position will be comfortable with a wide variety of musical styles, including classical and contemporary, and will work flexibly with a variety of amateur musicians and church leaders. Music degree or prior experience directing choirs preferred. Keyboard skills helpful, but not essential. The choir usually provides music for three out of four Sundays each month, as well as for occasional special services. The church band, Selah, typically provides music for one Sunday each month. Currently the choir has 10 members; participation varies depending on schedules.
Responsibilities:
Consult with the pastors seasonally concerning worship services to determine appropriate music. Select and rehearse appropriate music for each service involving the choir. This includes preparing and conducting the choir, ensuring accompaniment is available as needed, and recruiting other musicians as necessary. Direction of Selah is not included in this position. Become familiar with, maintain, and make use of our extensive music library with assistance from others as needed. Purchase music using the Music Fund as needed.
Coordinate music for summer Sundays. This involves scheduling musicians, soloists, or small groups and is planned in June. Some participants are members of the congregation and some are guests.
See to the care and maintenance of the church’s instruments (organ, pianos).
Schedule:
September through June. Arrangements can be made for occasional absences.
Rehearsals are Thursdays from 7:30 – 9 pm and on Sunday before the 10 am service.
Compensation: Starting at $4000 for 10 months paid biweekly.
